September Cooking Event and Open House at the Scout Hut

Saturday, September 7th


  1. Conduct single day event to provide Scouts opportunity to complete requirements 5 a-h for the cooking merit badge
  2. Merit badge requirement 5 d-h is the preparation and cooking of three meals and a desert. Each scout must bring four people to eat each meal. We will not be cooking for other Scouts. This is the only way to move a large number of scouts through this requirement at the same time
  3. Host area Webelos dens and help them complete one of their required adventures – we will need scout volunteers to lead this training

DATE:                 September 7th, 7 am to 6 pm

LOCATION:        Scout Hut, Mt. Bethel UMC


  1. Cooking merit badge requirements 5
    1. 5 a-c complete prior to September 7
    2. 5 d-h complete at event September 7
  2. Assist Webelos Dens to meet Iron Chef, Castaway, or Outdoorsman Adventure
  3. Flag ceremony
  4. Missing rank requirements completion opportunity
  5. Potential service project

    5. Missing Requirements (Focus on ones that the most scouts need first)
  2. We will need parents to help out throughout the day. Please sign up for a block of time if available


  1. Troop will provide cooking equipment
  2. Scouts will provide food

CLOTHING:           Class A uniform with class B shirt underneath for activities

PARKING:              All vehicles must remain in the church parking lot. Soccer games will be ongoing throughout the day and we cannot create any safety issues.
